As you can see it was a very big price the Eagles gave up to get their quarterback of the future.

With the 2nd Pick in the NFL Draft, the Eagles Selected QB Carson Wentz from North Dakota State, Wentz was a two year starter going 20-3 in 23 career starts, finished college career with 45 passing touchdowns. During the 2015 season, Wentz broke his wrist which made him miss eight games & he came back to lead North Dakota State to win the FCS national championship title. in a 37-10 win over Jacksonville State.

By drafting QB in the round, last time the Eagles did that was in 1999 when Andy Reid took Donovan McNabb at the number 2 pick. Doug Pederson plans on doing what Andy Reid did in 1999 by sitting Wentz for a season for him to get used to the play callling and know how the offense runs and also get used to the city and the fans as well.
