Philadelphia PA: The rest of the NFL continues on with their offseason program, the Philadelphia Eagles continued on with day 2 of their 3 day mandatory mini camp at the NovaCare Complex on Wednesday & coach Chip Kelly spoke for the 2nd straight day and this time wanted to focus on the position battles that are going on during mini camp.

The press conference started out with more questions on why the Eagles released Guard Evan Mathis  and Chip said “We have been in constant contact me and Ed Marynowitz in March April May & June.” and then he  was asked that did he have indication that he was going to show up and said  “I did not get that indication that Evan was going to show up and when I talked to him on Thursday & told him why we are releasing him and wished him the best & hope he gets what he is looking for”

About the Chip Kelly culture “NO it was not true, it was a money issue and we did not come to terms with the money issue”

Ryan Matthews: “Ryan has been a good addition to us, we are using him a little on kickoff with the speed he has”

about his defensive scheme “You have to be interchangeable because our safeties have to cover, we are not a 1 guy safety not 1 guy free safety” so basically what he is saying that everyone has to learn multiple positions based on the team and the scheme they run. latter on he was asked about his 2015 2nd round pick Eric Rowe  “Eric is a corner and that is where he will be for the future and terms and done a good job at corner & has caused a lot of turnovers in the 10 OTA & 1 minicamp”

Chip was asked about his Defensive line about the play of Fletcher Cox, Bennie Logan, Cedric Thornton “We are excited about that, one of strongest points last year & have a good rotation of players” Chip would also go on to say that Vinny Curry  would get more playing time depends on the situation & he has been getting some work at Outside Linebacker.

Latter on he gave some good things about Taylor hart  “has really changed his body around in the weight room … Counting on him to help us out and keep guys fresh”

about Fletcher Cox “is a disruptive force. Sack totals can be misleading, but there aren’t many people with that type of explosion”. Then he was asked about his tight end Zach Ertz in saying that “Ertz has unbelievable work ethic. Took no time off in offseason”

The press conference ended with a question about Tim Tebow “I have seen an improvement from Tim Tebow since the day we got him, Each week you’ve seen a bump especially in knowledge of Offence”
